What is Chevy Teen Driver Technology?

Teen Driving a Chevy

When you have a new teen driver in the family who’s preparing to hit the road for the first time, it can be a nerve-racking experience. But when you purchase a new Chevrolet car, truck, or SUV, you can rest a little easier as your kid hits the Cincinnati, OH streets. Most new models feature the innovative Teen Driver technology as standard fare.

What is Teen Driver technology? This innovative system boasts features like a speed warning and limiter, audio controls, and more to help young drivers practice safer habits on the road. Learn more with Tom Gill Chevrolet, below!

Chevrolet Teen Driver Technology Features

Chevrolet Teen Driver technology is a standard feature on most new vehicles in the lineup, including cars, SUVs, and even trucks like the Silverado 1500. Your teen is encouraged to drive safer in Covington by way of these standard features:

  • Speed Warning: When your teen exceeds a certain speed pre-set by you, an audible and visual warning will activate, reminding them to watch their speed.
  • Speed Limiter: When you enact the speed limiter, the Chevy vehicle is restricted to a maximum speed limit of 85 mph.
  • Audio Limit: Everyone enjoys driving around town with their favorite tunes playing, but when things get too loud it’s easy to get distracted. Ensure your teen driver keeps the volume at a safe level with the option to enable an audio volume limit.
  • Seat Belt Audio Mute: Audio inside the vehicle will remain muted until the driver and front passenger have both buckled in.

These features come standard with Teen Driver technology, but there are a few add-ons you can opt for as well, including:

  • Industry-First Buckle to Drive: This industry-first feature is designed to remind new drivers to buckle in before heading out on the road. Unbuckled drivers will be prevented from shifting out of Park for 20 seconds until they buckle up, and an audible and visual alert will also go off.
  • Industry-First In-Vehicle Report Card: This innovative feature provides a report card that lets you know how your teen was driving when you weren’t in the vehicle. It reports things such as the activation of anti-lock brakes and more, creating a great opportunity to start a conversation about safe driving habits.
